Judge Mark Hanna has dedicated his entire career to public service and the pursuit of justice.  He was appointed to serve as Judge of the 502nd District Court on December 1, 2025, after previously serving as Associate Judge of the 458thDistrict Court from January 2025-December 2025. 

Judge Hanna earned his Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Texas State University and his Juris Doctor from South Texas College of Law.  His legal career began in Matagorda County, where he served as both an Assistant County Attorney and Assistance District Attorney.  In 1998, he joined the Fort Bend County District Attorney’s Office, where he spent decades protecting the community and seeking justice for victims.

During his tenure, Judge Hanna held several leadership roles, including Chief of the Narcotics & Gang Division, Deputy Chief of the Felony Division, and Chief of Special Crimes. A Board-Certified Criminal Law attorney, he is a seasoned trial lawyer who has tried approximately 100 cases, ranging from Class B misdemeanors to Capital Murder.

Judge Hanna played a key role in the creation and operation of Fort Bend County’s first treatment court, Drug Court- reflecting his commitment to accountability, rehabilitation, and public safety. He has regularly taught at the Gus George Law Enforcement Academy and has presented continuing legal education programs for the Texas State Bar and the Texas District and County Attorneys Association.

A Fort Bend County resident for more than 30 years, Judge Hanna and his wife raised their two children here.  He is a member of River Point Church and remains actively involved in the community, including serving as a Board Member of the Exchange Club of Fort Bend County.
